Schlägl, 7. Juli 2004: Im Jahr 2004 ließen Sichtungen von NLC´s von Österreich aus lange auf sich warten. Erst im 23. Beobachtungsintervall zeigte sich die erste Leuchtende Nachtwolke: Ab 22:35 MESZ (20:35 UT) hob sich eine aus zahlreichen sehr langen Bändern bestehende Wolke im Nordwesten vom Dämmerungshimmel ab. Beeinträchtigt wurde die Sichtung von dichteren Cirren und besonders von Altocumulus. So wurden erst nach und nach neue Teile der NLC in Wolkenlücken erkennbar. Die Bewegung der tieferen Bewölkung ist im nächstfolgenden Komposit zu erkennen. Benjamin Kühne beobachtete an diesem Abend Leuchtende Nachtwolken in Köln mit deutlich größerer vertikaler Ausdehnung und großer Helligkeit. 

In this year NLC´s were not seen in Austria before 7^th of July; I had to go outside in the morning and evening 23 times to succeed. At 20:35 UT the Noctilucent Cloud appeared with a lot of very long bands in the north-western sky. My observations were disturbed by compact cirrus and altocumulus. With time new parts of the NLC got visible while the lower cloud layer moved. Take a look at the next three images and observe the movement! This evening Benjamin Kühne took pictures of the NLC´s at Köln in Germany; they showed a higher vertical extension and more brightness.
